ALEXANDER MACLAREN WITHERSPOON has taught at Yale University. He has been also Associate Professor of English and Fellow at Berkeley College. In addition to his academic career, the author is also distinguished as editor of Titus Andronicus in the Yale Shakespeare Series and the College Survey of English Literature. With Robert Tristam Coffin, he edited Seventeenth Century Prose and Poetry. He is one of the editors of the Masterwork Series and a member of the editorial board of Yale University Press.
