Bankim Chandra Chatterjee Rajmohan's wife has been widely acknowledged to be the first Indian novel in English. Centred round the domestic problems and intrigues of a landlord's family in the nineth-century East Bengal, it opens itself to multiple reading, all of which have been considered and discussed in this critical study. The text along with the several problems associated with it have been discussed in detail for the benefit and guidance of students in our universities.
