Dr. M.G. Gupta was a member of the faculty of Political Science at Allahabad University for twenty years where he taught and guided research with distinction. His study of International Relations Since 1919 was a pioneering work. He is also the author of several other treatises on international relations. Dr. M.G. Gupta was awarded D.Litt. by Allahabad University on ‘Indo-Ceylonese Relations’ which the then Sri Lankan High Commissioner in India hailed as a work of ‘vital importance’.
