Tamas (1975) recounts the true events of riots during Partition of the contry in 1947, to which the author was himself a withness. Bhisham Sahni (1915-2003) uses a fictional thread to develop narrative so that he could live those traumatic tiones when all hell breals loose and scores of Hindus and Sikhs,as well as Muslims massacre one another. Tamas relives the villence of those five to six days through the eyes of diffrents characters and the horrifying experiences of people. This critical study offers a detailed account of the text for the benefit of university students. At the end, some critical and textual problems are auswered from the examination point of vie.
