John Keats belonged to the second generation of the Romantics. It us generally believed that, had he lived longer, he held great promise as a poet. But during his short poetic career, he gave is some of the great Odes as well as poems like Hyperion and The Eve of St. Agnes. Had he lived longer, he would have, in the opinion of John Middleton Murray, equalled William Shakespeare. This book provides a clear and authoritative text, detailed notes and commentary, critical and historical background of Keats’s poems as well as select textual problems for the benefit of our university students. This critical study, originally prepared by Dr. Raghukul Tilak, it has been thoroughly revised, edited and updated by Prof. Shakti Batra.
