The book deals with the principal ideas and concepts of different political thinkers in a simple and lucid manner. First the central argument of each political thinker and his theories are briefly given. This is followed by a detailed study and analysis of the theories along with critical evaluation and contribution of the thinker. It also analyses in separate chapters the major characteristics of each period in the evolution and development of political thought. The book will meet the needs of University students at the under- graduate and post-graduate levels. Dr. M.G. Gupta was a member of the faculty of Political Science at Allahabad University for twenty years where he taught and guided research with distinction. His study of International Relations Since 1919 was a pioneering work. He is also the author of several other treatises on international relations. Dr. M.G. Gupta was awarded D.Litt. by Allahabad University on ‘Indo-Ceylonese Relations’ which the then Sri Lankan High Commissioner in India hailed as a work of ‘vital importance’
